Chicken Deli: Delicious Inasal Since 1983
There's no doubt that Mang Inasal and Chic-Boy are currently two of the most famous chicken inasal destinations in the Metro. However, being an adventurous and curious foodie, I made sure not to miss the chance to try a very popular chicken inasal restaurant which came straight from Bacolod, Chicken Deli.
Since 1983, Chicken Deli has been serving savory flame-grilled chicken all throughout Bacolod where it has actually become an institution. And in July 2011, this Bacolodian household inasal brand opened its first branch in Metro Manila, at SM North EDSA The Annex' 3rd level.
Like most chicken inasal places I know, Chicken Deli also uses a red and yellow color scheme for its facade and a pay-before-ordering dining system. However, its interior is very cozy and inviting as it made use of wooden chairs and bricked walls under a soft yellow-tinted lighting.
Being in a chicken inasal restaurant, it didn't take me even a minute to decide what to order. I got Chicken Deli Paa (P97) right away which came with a free bowl of soup and unlimited rice. Although this set of inasal looks like a plain jane, the taste was definitely something that got me hooked! Among all the chicken inasal I've tried, Chicken Deli's was the juiciest, most succulent cut of flame-grilled chicken. The skin was beautifully grilled to a tasty crisp and the chicken meat was tender and super savory.
I also got to try Chicken Deli's Turon (P49 for 6 Sticks) -- deep-fried banana and jack fruit spring rolls coated with sugar, which despite being thinner than what I was used to, turned out to be flavorful and very satisfying for a quick afternoon snack.
To end on a sweet note, I had the Halo Deli (P49) -- Chicken Deli's signature halo-halo which had shaved ice, evaporated milk and sweetened saba, topped with yema (custard candy). Like Razon's of Guagua's famous halo-halo, Chicken Deli proves that simplicity is the way to go. This Pinoy favorite was definitely a refreshing treat, although the yema added a chewy texture which I didn't quite dig.
Aside from chicken inasal, Chicken Deli also carries a variety of Filipino dishes which are friendly for the pocket. And even with already-low prices, they have Tipid Meals which is a very inexpensive selection of barbecue-rice combos perfect for a quick meal.
THE VERDICT
I know I've mentioned just a month ago that I've found the best inasal in the Metro. However, Chicken Deli managed to surpass that bar with its perfectly seasoned juicy, savory and oh-so-succulent inasal. In terms of service though, I have to say that Chicken Deli still needs to keep some room for improvements. Although I understand that making a freshly-cooked chicken inasal takes some time, the servers can show a little concern by offering drinks first and making sure to serve with a smile.

I love inasal chicken, try Bacolod Chicken Inasal masarap din dun....
ReplyDelete@Sweethestia: Yes, I've tried Bacolod Chicken Inasal! :) It's actually the one I was referring to as the best inasal I've tasted. But after trying Chicken Deli, I think Chicken Deli's na ang best for me so far when it comes to inasal.. ^^
ReplyDeleteI'd choose the paa too if given their menu options! I find Bacolod Chicken delicious but if chicken deli beats it then I have to try it! It's really difficult to mention best. Perhaps this is the best "Yet" for you. But, of course, our exploration for something better is endless.
ReplyDeleteaffordable siya.
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm usually in SM North so will make sure to try this one out soon. Also, have you tried JT's Manukan Grille in San Juan? One of the best chicken inasal's yet. =)
ReplyDeleteHaven't tried this. For me, JT's Manukan is still the best inasal! :)
ReplyDeletehttp://www.dekaphobe.com/
agree ako sa JT's Manukan!! my family's favorite :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried this yet, food looks yummy and very affordable.:)
ReplyDeleteI tried Mang Inasal and their version of inasal is just "OK" for me. I haven't been to Chicken Deli but the looks of it... I'm so eager to take a bite.
ReplyDeleteI miss having inasal, i was hoping I could have one everyday when I was in Bacolod last month :D
ReplyDeleteJust reading your description about the Inasal was making me salivate. I'm seriously a fan of chicken inasal. The more inasal places to try, the merrier! So bad that I'm reading this at lunch. My tummy's growling. I will look for inasal now!!!
ReplyDelete@Mai Flores, michymichymoo and Berylle: Since JT's Manukan is your favorites, I'll definitely try that the next time I crave for inasal.. :D
ReplyDeleteoh.. ito yung pinag uusapan namin kahapon sa opis hahaha... masarap dito yung turon nila grabe my fave...
ReplyDeleteInasal, for me, tastes the same already regardless where it comes from. Jaded na siguro. Hehehe! =)
ReplyDeletei have not tried chicken deli, but the price is good ha,very affordable.
ReplyDeleteI've passed by their SM North branch a few times but didn't pay much attention. We'll try them the next time we're there. Prices are quite good. :)
ReplyDeletewow this i must try! i love inasal! i noticed their halo halo doesn't use leche flan, instead yema.. interesting :D
ReplyDeleteAnother alternative of inasal dishes. But I have to tell, I was sold with the halo-halo. Half the price from Razon's but looks pretty much the same.
ReplyDeletethis is a must-try, budget friendly too..
ReplyDeleteWow. Great deal for inasal. Dati okay na ko sa Mang Inasal kaso ngayon dry na. I better try this soon..
ReplyDeletei guess it's high time i renew my love for chicken inasal. it has been a long time since my last chicken inasal meal. will try this soon.
ReplyDeletelove the twist of their desserts and happen to taste it here in Calamba...
ReplyDeleteI missed your blog! Hmm similar siya sa Mang Inasal noh? A little bit pricey lng i think? If I were to us Mang Inasal or this? which do you prefer? :)
ReplyDeleteGosh, I'd have everything on the menu! Sizzling bangus first then squid! :D Yummm!
ReplyDeleteSan kaya sila may branch near Mandaluyong? Mukhang masarap nga!
ReplyDeleteAng mura naman pala dito! Makes me wanna try
ReplyDeleteWow, new Inasal place to try! And very affordable ha. I hope they have branch somewhere near Greenhills or Ortigas though :) Thanks for sharing this Sumi!

@lalalaPatricia: Girl, this is NOT expensive at all! Bang for the buck na siya, just P90+ for chicken inasal with unlimited rice and free soup. And if I'd compare this to Mang Inasal, hands down Chicken Deli! :) Mang Inasal's chicken had become dry na and they pre-cook na their inasal then reheat nalang when ordered. Chicken Deli's on the other hand is cooked a la minute. Super moist and delish pa!
ReplyDelete@Yedy Calaguas and Kris Edison: So far they only have these branches: SM North EDSA Annex, Cartimar Shopping Center in Recto, and Tutuban Mall.
haven't been there yet.. wanna try more food adventures in the metro given the chance.. anyhoo, dropping by also to say I tagged you! :) http://dozendaybreak.blogspot.com/2012/04/sunshine-award-my-very-first-award.html

ReplyDeleteI love chicken inasal! well I'll try to search if there's a Chicken Deli within my area. I think it is a must try as per your recommendation.
ReplyDeletethe signature halo-halo topped with "yema" caught me hehe
ReplyDeletefirst time to see and read a halo-halo like that. .

all the foods in the menu are affordable looking forward for their refreshment
ReplyDeleteAnother Inasal hub :) Prices are affordable so I must try it ASAP!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy first Chicken Deli-experience was at Tutuban Mall. I am not a fan of chicken inasal :(
ReplyDeletetry ko nga din. affordable e. =)
ReplyDeletewow! prices are not bad at all...love the ambiance of the place.
ReplyDeleteI love the taste of Chicken Inasal any brand :) I'll try to visit Chicken Deli when I go for vacation. Thanks for the photos and infos
ReplyDeleteI love inasal so much! hehe
ReplyDeleteI wish I could try this soon enough
:))
Their menu board is very similar to Mang Inasal. It's just that it's color red. blog. Thanks for sharing this and I'll try Chicken Deli so I can also compare the taste. :)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, you may also be interested how a street food can become a gourmet food. Thank you.
The restaurant looks very comfy or shall I say homey! The aura will make you feel like eating more.
ReplyDeleteThis could be one of the most dined in food chain this year with the chicken loving people here in our country.
