Zark's Burgers: It's Jawbreaker Day!
When CashCashPinoy offered a deal for Zark's Burgers, I was one of those who didn't think twice and just went ahead to buy the coupon. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, I wasn't able to claim my P500-worth of food and drinks from the famous burger shop. I thought it would take me forever to finally pay a trip to Zark's Burgers. Fortunately, The Pickiest Eater invited me to attend Jawbreaker Day last Sunday.
The Jawbreaker Day is Zark's Burgers special promo offering their 5-inch tall burger to the public for P150 instead of P250. And although there was already Jawbreaker Day part one for this month, I was fortunate to have attended the part two, as I got to evade the long lines of customers in queue last July 7. If you're wondering how, well this time, Zark's Burgers implemented a ticketing system with a number and a time slot.
With such a high demand for one of Manila's greasiest burgers, I can't help but get excited to try the Jawbreaker -- a triple-patty burger with Spam, bacon, tomatoes, greens and cheese sauce, served with a siding of fries and a glass of iced tea or lemonade. Just one look at this 5-inch tall burger and you know it's a heart attack in a bun. And although I've recently become quite health conscious, I threw it out of the window for the meantime and just succumbed to this heart attack-inducing temptation.
In general, Zark's Burgers' patties are made from seasoned beef. And although I like tasty and flavorful beef patties, I found the Jawbreaker's triple-patty having too strong of a peppery taste for my liking. Good thing, there were veggies and a soft and big bun to balance out the explosion of flavors. (Don't eat each layer separately like I did if you don't dig strong peppery flavors. Try to savor everything in one big bite.)
As much as I tried to finish my Jawbreaker, I failed. However, I think I didn't do that bad since I managed to leave just a small portion of the top and bottom buns plus about a fourth of a single patty. (A great job for someone petite, right?) Everyone in our table wasn't able to finish their burgers too, except for Kurt and the beau who despite sweeping his way as the first place finisher, didn't eat his veggies.
After this trip to Zark's Burgers, I'm sure a returning visit is in order. With other tempting greasy burgers such as the Deep-Fried Burger (1/4 pound P155; 1/2 pound P185) and the 2-pound quadruple-patty Tombstone (P500) which if you finish in 10 minutes garners you a spot on the Wall of Fame, plus a free shirt, the beau and I might just give the challenge a try. (It would be nice if a photo of a girl is on that wall, don't you think so?)

Sumi!! I want to be there when you try to conquer the tombstone challenge! :)
ReplyDeleteThat wouldn't be a pretty sight though.. hahaha.. XD
DeleteOnce the wedding is done, I'll finally get to try this :P
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for you and Lynne to give Zark's Burgers a try.. :D You two are like burger connoisseurs! XD
DeleteOh maaaaan. Sa taft pala siya? I was always wondering where Zark's was located. I don't like peppery burgers though. D:
ReplyDeleteThey have a branch in President's Ave., BF homes Paranaque (in front of Shawarma Snack Center) too.. :) I'm not sure if all their burger patties have a strong peppery taste, but if you'd eat everything in one bite naman, it's not as overpowering na.. ^^
DeleteYes burger shouldn't be eaten layer by layer but as a whole. But 5 inches?! Oh my my mouth can open only 1 inch. LOL..
ReplyDeleteHaha.. Yeah! :D I actually didn't everything layer by layer, but I ate 1 patty by itself and the other one in half so I can flatten the burger easier.. ^^
DeleteI almost finished it! ALMOST! hahaha! :) It was nice to see you guys. My friend and I flattened the burger instead of dismantling it so we can savor all the layers at the same time. :) Maybe we can do a part 2 with the other foodies?

I didn't dare flatten the burger 'cause it's so tall and I don't want the juices to leak out from the patties.. haha.. But I eventually flattened it out after eating the 1st patty.. :D And sure, I'm definitely game for a 2nd visit!
Deleteyes please!
Deletewow!!! Hahaha! :D i tried their cheeseburger & it was so good. I cannot finish even a double patty burger, lol.
ReplyDeleteGlad you made it, Sumi!
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed, you actually ate more of the burger than me! hehe
The deep fried burger is still my fave though.. let's all go back to try the other stuff!
:)
If only the bun wasn't to soggy after quite a while, I think I can still finish the burger.. :D Haha.. excuses eh noh?! XD Anyway, thanks again for the invitation. I'll definitely try the deep-fried burger next and tombstone next! :D
DeleteOMG! That looks so mouth-watering! sumi, can you please tell them to open a branch here in Cebu?! :-)
ReplyDeleteLet's hope for that.. Cebu can use a greasy burger spot! ;)
DeleteI have not tried anything this huge! Migosh, the calories will be something there but the experience I'm sure is something else :D
ReplyDeleteHow tall is that Zark's burger? It looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteI've actually mentioned twice on the post that it's 5 inches tall.. :)
Deletehow would i eat a stack of patties plus veggies plus bun in one go? :D goodness for 150php super super sulit to! :) Nakakgutom talaga tong blog mo haha
ReplyDeletexx, WANDER SHUGAH
That's what I initially thought when I saw the burger!!! :D I didn't know how I'd eat it in one go, that's why I ate 1 patty first.. haha.. XD
DeleteOh my goodness... first time in a long time I "felt" myself drooling. :D
ReplyDeleteThese burgers look really tasty but I don't dare try them :) The calories!
ReplyDeleteI want to try Zark's Jawbreaker too!!!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a lot of burger! Gonna try it one time. I think 3 days of not eating before might just do the trick to prepare for this. Hahaha!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good plan! :D I can do that to prepare for the Tombstone challenge XD
Deleteyou made me crave for more burgers!
ReplyDelete:))
that's huge! at least for me. haha.
ReplyDeleteHaha.. Don't worry sir totomai, this is also huge even for me! :D
DeleteWow, what a calorie-loaded meal! :D Been trying protein diet so maybe I'd stick with just the patties in that! hihi
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed a JawBreaker, I dont think I can swallow this burger whole :D
ReplyDeletesurely my sons will love it :) that burger was really big, a real burger treat hihi
ReplyDeleteGreat blog post Sumi! Since I study nearby, frequently visit Zark's. I love their burger patties but not much of the bread.
ReplyDeletePlus, they are somewhat affordable because at 120+ you will have a burger of your choice, some fries and a drink.
We heard about this place and the boyfriend, I think, can get his face on that wall easy! haha :) Your photos are enough to convince me to give this place a shot. I just hope it doesn't cause my BP to go up again, haha.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I can finish a burger like that. Haha.
ReplyDeleteI wish were able to take advantage of this. :( Too bad, we missed that big discount!
ReplyDeleteZOMG, Zark's!!! Sabi ng friends ko we'll really break our jaws with their burgers. :D Must try this some time.

ReplyDeleteI've tried their burgers. Super sulit talaga siya at masarap. The first time we went there, we felt so full that we walked our way home from Vito Cruz to UN Avenue! :D
