Blog Anniversary Giveaway #4: Akiba Cafe

Whenever I'm in SM Megamall, the first store I visit has always been Akiba Cafe. I may not have blogged about every trip I made, but I assure you that all my visits led to the expected satisfaction. And since I'm still celebrating my blog's 1st year anniversary, I'd like to give you a chance to sample one of my most favorite cafes around, Akiba Cafe.

I fell in love with this cosmopolitan Japanese-inspired cafe when I first visited it back in January. Although I liked the yogurt drink I ordered, it was their Green Tea Cheesecake which is the scene-stealer. Just as I thought I've found my kind of cake, I then got to try their Sweet Potato Cake on my second visit. And guess what, up until now it has been my most favorite cake flavor not just in Akiba Cafe, but in every cake shop I've tried.

I have to admit that this is definitely the most unusual and unexpected cake flavor I've ever loved, but I just dig how soft, light, creamy and subtle it was. I think I can actually eat not just slices but even the whole serving of this cake without getting tired of its taste.

As for my favorite drink, it's got to be their Jasmine Trifle Tea. I haven't blogged about this trifle tea flavor yet, but I think I've already ordered this thrice and will still be ordering this next time. Being a jasmine tea lover, I liked how clean-tasting their brew was. But what made it special is the creamy, sweet and salty foam on top which is Akiba Cafe's own trifle cream. To really savor this drink, I'd sip first straight from the glass and enjoy the cream, then get a straw and taste the jasmine tea brew. When I'm already happy with getting a taste of both separately, I mix the two layers and enjoy the drink as milk tea.

Not everyone will share the same favorites as I do, especially since I'm more enticed by unconventional flavors. So let me share with you what the beau digs from Akiba Cafe. Since he's more into sweeter cakes than those with subtle flavors, his pick is the Tiramisu which has a creamy base cake topped with fine coffee powder. This one is generally not sweet, but definitely tastier than my fave. Another one he likes is the Double Choco Mousse which is a chocolatey treat sure to please the chocolate lovers.

Aside from cakes, teas and yogurt drinks, Akiba Cafe also carries a few coffee items. Honestly, we've only tried one. It's not because we don't like to try other coffee items, but their Nutty Macadamia Kohi is just so good that we tend to order it again and again. For coffee drinkers who likes their coffee strong, I'm sorry but this one has a lighter and smoother blend. But those who love both macadamia nuts and a fancier coffee, then I'm sure you'd love this as it's very creamy, quite sweet and really really comforting.
