Blog Anniversary Giveaway #11: Figaro UP Ayala-Technohub

Whenever the beau and I are out, we always make sure to drop by a coffee shop to chill and have our caffeine fix. And among different cafés out there, one which is close to our hearts is Figaro Coffee Company. If you'd remember, we went on a discounted Figaro adventure last year. But even without a discount booklet, we've still been visiting Figaro Coffee Company, and our most recent was a trip to its UP Ayala-Technohub branch.

If you didn't know yet, Figaro Coffee Company is a homegrown coffee shop. From a mere kiosk in Makati, they have expanded and built café outlets all over the country after being officially established by a group of coffee enthusiasts back in 1993. This is actually a factor why we'd always frequent Figaro and other locally-established cafés, we want to support Filipino-made coffee shops and their coffee. Anyway, although UP Ayala-Technohub isn't exactly near my place, it's also not that far. And with a bright, cheerful and refreshing ambiance, I think I can head here for my regular unwinding sessions.

Since it was quite hot that afternoon, we started off our merienda with refreshing cold coffee drinks. I got a Butterscotch Vanilla with Coffee Jelly (P155) which was creamy, slightly sweet with a subtle butterscotch flavor, and made more interesting texture-wise with the coffee jelly. The beau on the other hand, got himself the new Creme Brulee Frost (P135), a slightly sweet coffee drink with hints of brown sugar and custard flavor.

Another thing we like at Figaro Coffee Company compared to most coffee shops in the Metro is the fact that this café offers not just beverages and light snacks. They also got filling dishes should you find yourself craving for both a meal and for coffee.

And since I was quite hungry that afternoon, I had the new Seafood Pomarola (P180) -- a bowl of al dente-cooked linguine pasta in fresh tomato and pomarola sauce with pieces of shrimp, fish fillet and squid, and topped with Parmesan cheese and parsley bits. Now, I don't usually have high expectations from food served in coffee shops since they specialize in beverages anyway, but this one is definitely worth ordering again and again!

The beau on the other hand, had the Meaty Lasagna (P190) which had a really meaty ragù sauce sandwiched between each layer of lasagna, then topped with Parmesan and bechamel white cheese sauce. Compared to my choice of pasta, the lasagna looked smaller. However, it was really creamy and meaty, ending up as quite filling for merienda. Both the beau and I were pleased so we'll definitely get this pasta item on our next trip.
