Pink Parlour: Almost Painless Brazilian Wax + Giveaway!

Before we go back to our regular food blog programming, let me first share something beauty and wellness related. Yes, let's talk about Brazilian waxing!

I have never ever gone to a waxing salon before. I've contemplated on getting a bikini wax a few years ago, but chickened out. I'd go back and forth thinking I should get it done, but it just never materialized. Then some time last month, I received an invitation to try Pink Parlour's Brazilian wax service. Brazilian wax, a type of bikini wax which strips everything down under, is not only a delicate process for me, but also something I've always been embarrassed and nervous about. Since its opening late last year, Pink Parlour already has 3 branches -- SM North EDSA, A-Venue Mall, and SM Center Pasig. And since I'm a northie, I went to the SM North EDSA branch, on the 5th level of The Block. Although I was nervous as heck when I went in, the hot pink, black and zebra print-donned space of Pink Parlour helped calm my nerves. The place was just oozing with a fun, posh and girly vixen vibe.

Apart from offering waxing services, Pink Parlour also does some nail pampering. They have 6 nail zones all equipped with pink pillows and cute huggable kitten plushies. From what I know, you can even watch a movie while getting your nails done. So cool, no? And just look at that shelf of polishes! I think I should avail their nail parlour service next time.

Brazilian Waxing at Pink Parlour

Now, after checking out the place a bit and snapping some shots, I was given a towel and led to the shower room for a quick rinse. After which, off I went to a waxing suite to get my very first Brazilian. (The moment I was both anxiously and excitingly waiting for!)

Here's the waxing station, where the magic happens.

I may not have previous waxing experience, but I was definitely at ease knowing Pink Parlour gives high priority to hygiene. Apart from offering a dainty kitten plushie just in case you'll need something for comfort, they also follow strict sanitation:

• UV sterilization kills 99.99% virus and bacteria
• Protection sanitization bags for all tools
• No double dipping
• Use of Karcher hot steamer to disinfect sinks and showers
• Regular anti-bacterial store fogging

As for the wax, they use Caron which is Australia's #1 brand of hard wax known for delivering unrivaled results. Based from the online researching I did prior to the waxing session, I found out hard wax is better at giving an almost painless waxing experience. It's efficient, getting all the hairs off, yet gentle and won't strip off skin.

My Brazilian Wax Experience

I'm a Brazilian wax virgin, and I think I've made my point across of how nervous I was going through this. I even popped in a Mefenamic an hour ahead since I was scared of experiencing pain. BUT, the session went exactly the opposite of what I expected.

Ms. Rose, my wax technician, first prepped the area with some baby powder. She then applied the hot melted wax using a wooden spatula and waited for it to solidify before swiftly pulling it off. She repeated this using a new spatula for every application. And yes, she was wearing gloves the whole time! We chatted away during the procedure and I was actually surprised the process was done in just about 15 minutes!

"Tapos na po?"

"Ambilis lang pala!"

This is seriously what I exclaimed right after the waxing session. It was the opposite of how I expected things to go down! All this time, I thought it'd take more than 30 minutes since I might request to take quick breaks in case I'll be in pain. But no! Every pull was waaaaaay bearable than what I imagined. On a scale of 1 to 10, I expected things to go as worse as 9 on the pain spectrum. But in reality, the Brazilian waxing session at Pink Parlour was just a 3. Seriously! Plucking my eyebrows for the first time was way worse! And take note, since this is my first Brazilian, then this is the most painful it can get. If this didn't hurt as much, then I bet my next waxing sessions will just be a walk in the park.
