Daily Quickie: Jollibee's Tuna Pie is back!
Daily Quickie is a short tag on the title which I use for blog entries about food I'm snacking at home, work or anywhere.
A few days ago, I received a surprise in time for our weekday merienda. Normally, I won't go giddy from fast food delivery, 'cause if you've been a long-time reader, you know how often we get fast food. I know, so unhealthy. Haha! But this was one of those rare occasions where I had a big smile on my face upon receiving the goods. Why not? It's one of my favorite items ever from Jollibee -- the Tuna Pie. Finally, it's back!!!
This might be trivial, but another thing that made me happy was the cute packaging the Tuna Pie came in with. I was given a giant box of Tuna Pie with 10 pieces of the actual pies. #TunaPieOverload! However, the Tuna Pie just like how most of my favorite Jollibee items, is only here to stay for a limited time. Available only until April 30, 2014, the Tuna Pie can be bought solo at P33, or as a value meal with regular drink at P45.
So what makes Jollibee's Tuna Pie so good? Well, if you've personally tried it, then you'd probably know already. But if you haven't given it a try yet, then I urge you to do so.
Popping it out from the packaging reveals a beautiful and flaky golden brown deep-fried pocket of a crust that's slightly sweet and never too oily. It's the perfect casing for the creamy and savory filling of tuna chunks with mushrooms and assorted vegetables that oozes out with every bite. Definitely a Pinoy comfort food, and an addicting one at that!
You think 10 pieces of Jollibee's Tuna Pie would be too much for a family of 4, one of which who didn't even get a piece. *ehemAntiFastFoodDad* However, the 10 pieces was actually not enough! I thought I was the one who'd eat a lot of it. But as it turns out, my mom and my little sis loved it so much that they bought Tuna Pies the next day!
Aside from the Tuna Pie, the Garlic Bangus is also back! I might just try it out one of these days. It seems like a healthier alternative to usual fast food fare.
