Oh, hearts day... 'Tis the time I dread. If you're the one in charge of planning the Valentine's date, which I usually am, then you've probably experienced squeezing your brain just to find the perfect venue for that romantic day or night out with your special someone. And if you still haven't found the perfect place to celebrate the hearts day, then you're in luck! 'Cause today, I'll be sharing with you 6 Valentine's specials you can check out at
Resorts World Manila.
It's no secret that
Resorts World Manila, the Philippines' first one-stop, nonstop integrated tourist destination, is home not just to gaming tables, hotels, shops and the theater, but also to a good number of great restaurants. And if you and your partner are real urban dwellers, then I sure think a V-date at one of the signature restaurants at
RWM would fit the bill.
Just the other night, I was lucky to have a preview of what
Resorts World Manila has in store for the Valentine's weekend. So sit back, and enjoy scrolling down to gastronomic treats. Oh, and if something catches your attention, be sure to book ASAP! (*ゝω・*)b
Our sampler menu of the Valentine specials at RWM |
Heart-shaped bread perfect for the Hearts Day! |
We got to taste a few items from special menus these 6 signature restaurants and cafes will be launching for Valentine's. But of course, I've included more information -- prices, list of menus, availability, etc., to help you decide better where to take your loved one this weekend.
IMPRESSIONS
Dinner Romance by Executive Chef Cyrille Soenen
Location: 3F Maxims Hotel | Contact Number: +63 (2) 908 8883
We only sampled the first 3 courses -- amuse bouche, appetizer and soup, from Chef Cyrille's
Dinner Romance five-course degustation menu for Valentine's. And while we only had smaller, sampler versions of the actual dishes, this teaser was enough for me to really WANT a table at
Impressions this V-day. Yup, this tasting really made a huge impression!
Seared Scallops, Herbed Soil of Nuts and Brioche,
Cauliflower Meuniere and Seaweed Broth |
✓ Duo of Duck Liver Terrine and Strawberry Marmalade,
Strawberry Aspic, Peanut Powder and Pistachio Emulsion |
✓ Creamy Broth of Mussels, Clams and Prawn and Squid Gaufrette |
If you and your partner love French cuisine, or are interested in trying it out, then I highly suggest to consider
Impressions and its Valentine's Day menu. The rate is pretty hefty, to be honest, but quality is excellent. I've only tried the first 3 courses from the 5-course menu, but I was so hooked! I'm sure the 5 courses of
Dinner Romance along with the complimentary Chandon sparkling wine will leave you and your loved one a very good lasting impression.
Impressions’ Dinner Romance is available from February 13 to 15 at P3,500 net per person.
GINZADON
Set For Love by Chef Antonio Ablay
Location: 2F Maxims Hotel | Contact Number: +63 (2) 908 8887
I've been to
Ginzadon before, and am no stranger to Chef Antonio's great-tasting sushi rolls. But for Valentine's Day, couples can choose from 2 special sets, both of which includes a combination of California and unagi rolls, seafood and vegetable hotpot, a main dish, and an exciting deep-fried ice cream for dessert.
California Roll and Nigiri Unagi |
✓ Wagyu Beef Teppanyaki and Grilled King Prawn on Crispy Croquettes |
✓ Stone-Grilled Salmon Fillet in Teriyaki Sauce |
During the tasting, I got to sample the sushi rolls which were okay, and the 2 main dishes --
Steak and King Prawn and
Salmon Princess, which are both the bomb! You could expect a girly girl like me to pick the grilled salmon dish. But no! As succulent and flavorful as the salmon was, I just have to choose the surf and turf option. But either way, this more affordable
Set for Love Valentine's Day menus are sure to please.
But, if you're just in for the sushi rolls, Chef Antonio also has the
Love and Roll offerings --
Shake No Toro Maki (Salmon Belly Roll) for P700++, and
Maguro Tatake Maki (Seared Tuna Deep Fried Roll) for P600++.
Ginzadon’s Set for Love is available from February 13 to 15 at P1,500++ (Salmon Princess) and P2,500++ (Steak and King Prawn), while Love and Roll is available until February 28.
THE TERRACE
Under the Stars by Executive Chef Gregorio Nuguid
Location: 5F Maxims Hotel | Contact Number: +63 (2) 908 8889
This was my first time to get a taste of the offerings at the Mediterranean-themed
The Terrace helmed by Chef Gregorio. And while I didn't have any expectations before digging in, I've actually found myself enjoying and wanting for more.
✓ Butter-Poached Lobster Medallion, Saffron Butter Sauce,
on Corn Souffle Baked in Corn Husk Cup |
✓ Pistachio-Crusted Rack of Lamb with Espresso Demi |
✓ No Bake Trio Cheese Cake -- Mango, Espresso, Pistachio |
We only sampled a few of the items from the multi-course menu of
The Terrace's Dine Under the Stars special Valentine's set, but it was enough to make me want to avail of this myself. Apart from the beautiful and mouth-watering dishes (That lobster corn souffle is heavenly!), this Valentine's special is also perfect for the romantics as guests also get to enjoy bottomless sparkling, red, and white wines, flowers and chocolates in a pool-side cabana.
The Terrace's Dine Under the Stars is available from February 13 to 14 at P3,660 net per person.
MERCADO
Eat, Drink, Love by Chef Angelo “Chubby” Timban
Location: GF Gaming Area | Contact Number: +63 (2) 908 8880
When I saw what Chef Chubby from
Mercado has to offer, I was surprised. There were a lot of food. And take note, we're only in for a sampling! Then, I found out that
Mercado is
Resorts World Manila's buffet at the ground floor gaming area. So that's why!
Sushi and other appetizers from Mercado |
Chicken Leg Fillet with Roasted Garlic and Capsicum |
✓ Seared Saint Peter Fish Fillet with Raspberry and Tomato Jugo |
Click the photo to enlarge. |
Mercado generally specializes in Filipino cuisine with an inclusion of international favorites. And while I can't really comment on their spread since I haven't seen their regular buffet selection, this special Valentine's offering called
Eat, Drink, Love seems promising. I got to try a few of the dishes, and I was especially impressed with the salmon and the St. Peter (imported Tilapia) fillet. And I'm sure the actual buffet spread would be even better with more fresh seafood, carving items, local and international dishes, and more.
Mercado's Eat, Drink, Love is available from February 13 to 15 at P1,288++ per person.
VICTORIA HARBOUR CAFÉ
Harbour Love by Chef Charlie Simangan
Location: GF Gaming Area | Contact Number: +63 (2) 908 8881
Authentic Hong Kong diner
Victoria Harbour Café might be the newest addition to
RWM's signature restaurants, but Chef Charlie has definitely cooked up a Valentine's Day set sure to please Chinese food lovers.
Deluxe Combination Platter |
Victoria Harbour Café’s Harbour Love set is already good for 2! |
During the tasting, we only got to sample the
Deluxe Combination Platter which included slices of roasted duck, jelly fish, century egg, and a really yummy crispy fried shrimp and pork wonton ball, but it definitely gave me a good peek of the quality of food at
Victoria Harbour Café. The line up of Chinese dishes in the set seems promising too. And it's definitely worth noting that the
Harbour Love menu can already give good value for not a lot of money.
Victoria Harbour Café’s Harbour Love set is available on February 14 only at P1,376++ for two.
CAFÉ MAXIMS
Sweet Love by Chef Michael Lopez
Location: GF Maxims Hotel | Contact Number: +63 (2) 908 8885
For something sweet, Chef Michael of
Café Maxims whipped up really interesting treats sure to make your loved one melt in bliss. The season-special Affection Cake is a center piece made of layered milk chocolate mousse over vanilla sponge base, sprayed with cacao butter, laced with pink Italian butter cream piping, and topped with white chocolates, fresh red currant and dainty heart chocolates. Definitely a way to anyone's heart!
✓ Bibingka Love (P135 Small; P385 Large) |
✓ Mi Amore Cake
Available at Remington Manila's R Bar; also by Chef Michael. |
But my favorite from Chef Michael is the Bibingka Love -- a classic Pinoy delicacy prepared with a strawberry-flavored twist and then topped with creamy vanilla ice cream. This is seriously so good that I think I can finish a large serving or two, or even three, all on my own!
Apart from serving these sweet treats,
Café Maxims also carries pralines, long-stemmed roses, and flower bouquets to help you show your love to your special someone.
Café Maxims' Sweet Love (flower, praline and Affection Cake) is available until February 28, while Bibingka Love is available only until February 15.

I hope this post has somehow helped you decide where to spend your Valentine's date this weekend. Whichever you choose, I'm pretty sure you'll have a good time, as I did when I had a preview of these special menus.
And as
Resorts World Manila carries these 6 signature restaurants and cafes, and more, there are also other activities you can consider apart from dining out.
Actually, since the Chinese New Year is also near,
The Plaza in
Newport Mall has played host to a series of attractions as it transforms into a mini-Chinatown complete with a special Valentine’s Day flavor.
From February 13, there'll be a special concert dubbed as
Music from the Movies by the
UP Singing Ambassadors. Then from February 14 to 16, hoop fans will have a heyday with an official
NBA All-Star Weekend Experience held in partnership with NBA and BTV. On February 20, the
Lunar New Year Lion & Dragon Dance and
Firecracker Lighting activities will take center stage, followed by the
Lion & Dragon High Pole Dance exhibition by world champions
Kun Seng Keng from Malaysia on February 21 and 22 at 3PM and 7PM.
There are a lot of things happening at
Resorts World Manila this love month. So if you're thinking of spending the Valentine's Day, or even the Chinese New Year weekend at
RWM, then you're sure in for a good time!
But for now, I wish you all -- singles, in relationships, married, or even complicated, a Happy Valentine's Day, and an even Happier Weekend! ★⌒(●ゝω・)b
