Holiday Inn & Suites Makati: A Home in the City
Ahh.. Makati. The city I usually stay away from on weekday mornings, late afternoons, and evenings. Although this city has a lot to offer, I sadly haven't found myself spending a lot of time in here because of the scary rush hour scenarios I encountered for a few times that I did. It didn't help too that I come from the northern boondocks and have to spend about two hours of either driving or commute going to and from the city.
However, I've always wanted to get a better feel of Makati and discover more of the good eats it offers. And one way I can do that sans the fuss, is as you guessed. A Makati staycation.
As much as I love hotel staycations, it can get pretty expensive especially for foodies like the boyf and I. Fortunately, one of my favorite group buying sites, Deal Grocer, has been offering really nice deals for hotel stays and dining. And through one of their hotel overnight deals, we found ourselves on the way to a staycation at Holiday Inn & Suites Makati.
Holiday Inn & Suites Makati is a 4-star hotel that promises to provide guests the warmth of Filipino hospitality whether staying in for business or for leisure. It's located within the Ayala Center, and even directly connected to Glorietta 2, which we find really, really convenient for eating out, shopping, and just mall strolling.
To book an overnight stay, I called up for reservations and was assisted on how to do the booking through email. It's just like booking for any other hotel, with the addition of providing the Deal Grocer voucher details. Come the day of our stay, we checked in a little later than the earliest allowable time which is 3:00PM.
I noticed this might have been the trend nowadays, but Holiday Inn & Suites Makati's front desk is on the 4th level, with the concierge on the ground floor (direct access to Glorietta 2).
After confirming the booking, and giving P2,000 incidental deposit (cash/credit) which will be returned upon check-out, we already found ourselves off to our home in Makati for the day.
We stayed in the 32sqm. Deluxe Room with a choice of a king bed or 2 queen beds.
Upon entering, we were greeted with the room's simple, modern and warm elegance. For a couple staying overnight, the 32sqms. was more than enough! I think even families with 1 to 2 kids would still find the size of the room sufficient and comfortable.
The king bed we had was very cozy and made for a good night's sleep. It wasn't too soft, yet not too firm. Just right! (*^▽^)b It also came with two types of pillows -- soft, and firm. One perfect for laying the head on, and the other as a super comfy cuddle buddy.
The room also has a 40-inch LCD TV equipped with a good selection of cable channels, an IDD/NDD telephone, an iPhone dock, a sofa and a side table, an executive desk, a counter with mirror, mini bar with coffee and tea maker, a luggage bench, a full-body mirror, and a spacious closet with the staple safety deposit box, bathrobes, slippers and hangers, and iron and board. Along with the snacks and goodies (with charge) also comes a Holiday Inn Teddy Bear and some coloring materials perfect for kiddos! ヾ(*⌒ヮ⌒*)ã‚ž
The toilet and shower also have good size. And although simple, it's clean and fully functional with hot and cold water. It also has a bidet which we see as a must-have in any hotels! No need to bring anything too as it's fully amenitized, with different sized towels, toothbrushes, and other toiletries. If ever you need anything else, housekeeping can bring it for you. If not, the Glorietta Shopping Mall is just a few steps away. 。(⌒.⌒。)
Another thing that made our stay more comfortable is the complimentary Wi-Fi access. I'm not sure if there's a limited number of devices you can hook up to their Wi-Fi, but we had our phones (3) and a laptop connected just fine. Internet speed was pretty fast too! Woot!
Although our Deal Grocer voucher didn't include breakfast, we figured it would be nice to still check out the restaurants inside the hotel, 'cause there's certainly no shortage of dining spaces at Holiday Inn & Suites Makati as in fact, they have three.
On the 4th floor lobby of the hotel, just a few steps away from the front desk, stands Citron Lobby Bar. Open from 9:00AM to 11:00PM, Citron promises to provide a unique bar experience whether you're in for a break, a quick snack, or for a full meal.
One thing that really intrigued me is how Citron offers healthy selections based on the blood type of the diner. (Check out Citron Lobby Bar's Menu here.) How cool is that?! (๑*౪*๑)
On the same 4th floor lobby level, there's also Flavors Restaurant which is the hotel's main dining outlet offering a buffet and an a la carte selection. This is also where the breakfast buffet is served.
During our stay at Holiday Inn & Suites Makati, breakfast buffet rate was at P888 per person. Children below 12 years old (maximum of 2 kids) accompanied by paying adults can avail of the breakfast buffet for free.
But GOOD NEWS!!! Deal Grocery currently carries sweet deals for Flavors Restaurant, so you might want to check them out -- Breakfast buffet for P550 (from P888), Lunch buffet for P895 (from P1,391), and Lunch or dinner buffet for 4 for P3,400 (from P5,988).
Located on the roof deck is Oz Bar which is open from 11:00AM to 12:00MN on Sunday to Wednesdays and up to 1:00AM on Thursday to Saturdays. This is the hotel's perfect spot to relax and unwind while clinking glasses and sipping concoctions prepared by the hotel's very own mixologist.
While we were able to check out all 3 of the hotel's F&B outlets, we sadly weren't able to try any of their offerings since we were mostly out and about. We didn't opt to avail of the breakfast buffet too 'cause we preferred to sleep in. Haha! But the next time we're at Holiday Inn & Suites Makati, we'll make sure to try their food and drinks. I'm especially intrigued by the "blood type diet" menu of Citron Lobby Bar. (๑❛ꆚ❛๑)
The hotel also has other facilities -- the spa, gym and the pool, all located on the roof deck.
As expected from a 4-star hotel in the heart of Makati, Holiday Inn & Suites has nice leisure and wellness facilities. I admit, we weren't able to make full use of them, but it's always good to know that there's a spa if you'd ever want to pamper your body; a gym if you feel like sweating a few pounds; and a pool for cooling off and just playing in the water. *(*´∀`*)☆
Although we basically just slept in most of our stay if we weren't out malling, we can still say that we had a great time at Holiday Inn & Suites Makati. From the reservation to the check-in, the actual overnight until check-out, everything fell into place in this hotel. Every staff we came across with greeted us with a smile, which has put us in a good mood all throughout the stay. The hotel itself had a nice room, as well as facilities. And how can I not mention the amazing location? It's in the Ayala Center, and directly connected to Glorietta at that! d(๑>◡<๑)
After making Holiday Inn & Suites Makati our home in the city for a weekend, I sure can't wait to book another stay. But of course, if Deal Grocer will be offering another sweet deal for this, it would be even better! ☆(>ω・)৴♡*৹

The spa is third party owned and has its own management independent from the IHG. |
Wasn't able to try their services, but the spa was offering promos and discounts during our stay. |
Surprised to see the gym empty! |
Such a shame we didn't bring work out clothes during our stay. |
I'm still convincing myself it's okay, since we walked a lot within Makati that weekend. Haha! |
Those wet floor signs don't look good on photo. But, better safe than sorry! |

If it weren't for the coupon you bought it'll be super expensive but I can see it's worth it. Plus the location is strategically located in Glorietta which is pretty convenient talaga. The boyfriend and I have been also staycationing around Manila pero it's because we attend some events or go out late so we would book a day before near where we would be going.
