5 Beauty Products I Can't Live Without
Although you can mostly see me in cafes and restaurants, chugging mugs of matcha latte and stuffing my face with food, I'm actually a lover of everything beauty-related as well. When I'm not busy inflating my waistline, you can find me at the beauty section of the mall.
However, as much as I love trying out different brands and cosmetic products, I've grown to be attached to a few specific ones throughout the years.
Today, I want to share with you the beauty products I've always loved and have been using until this very day. Of course, not exactly the same tub or stick, but products I keep on repurchasing, and see myself using and buying again and again.
Please keep in mind though, that what might perfectly work for me, may not be the same case for you. Just as with skincare, cosmetics can be a game of hiyangan too. A mostly fun, other times frustrating, journey of finding that holy grail product.
Now, let's start! °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°
Price: P380 | Biorè Philippines
Where to buy: Department Store beauty section, major supermarkets
Although this product is straight-up a sunblock, I use it as both a sunscreen and a face primer. It leaves my skin very smooth upon application, and putting on foundation on top of it has been really enjoyable since I started using this product. It also has SPF50+ which provides more protection from harsh UV rays. And although high SPF isn't advisable for flash photography, I haven't had an issue so far.
Price: P399 | Flormar Philippines
Where to buy: SM Department Store beauty section, Flormar SM MOA (near the cinemas)
This would have to be the part where I share my hg foundation. However, I've found a few brands and lines of liquid and mineral foundations I'm hiyang to, so I can easily use them in rotation. Concealer is a different story though. Most drugstore concealers can perfectly cover my blemishes but don't do a good job masking my dark circles. From the few brands I tried, I only found this particular product to do great in addressing both my concerns. I've even tried using this to hide eyeliner mistakes, and to cover parts of my brow, and it works amazingly!
I know there are other brands which can do heavy-duty concealing. However, this feels weightless on my skin, and doesn't crease on me. So for now, I'm sticking with it.
Price: P249 | L.A. Girl Philippines
Where to buy: Department Store beauty sections, Treats of L.A. kiosks
I found out about this brand 2 years ago, and have initially used it as an eyeliner for my oily lids. However, since I found it a great product that doesn't easily smear on my lids, I thought I could use it on my brows too like a tinted brow pomade. And hurrah! I've been using it for my brows until now, and it remains my undefeated choice of brow product even though I've been trying a few brands from time to time.
By the way, a little product goes a really long way. It can be applied lightly on the brows using the same small eyeliner brush it comes with.
Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner
Price: P799.75 | Dolly Wink Philippines
Where to buy: Department Store beauty sections, select specialty stores
Whenever I wear contact lenses (even the non-circle lenses), it's a must for me to put on some eyeliner just to balance out my facial features. However, having oily lids have not made it any easier. For one, I'm usually off-limits to pencil liners since they easily smudge and smear on me, while gel liners take a lot of time to apply. Fortunately, I was able to convince myself to try this brand a few years ago, which I initially found to be expensive for liquid liner pens.
It has been my go-to eyeliner for casual makeup since then. It's great value, as it stays on my lids the entire time whenever I go out. It has very fine, tapered tip, so it's easy to make thin, precise lines especially on my slightly hooded lids. And since it's in a pen form, it's a lot easier to apply compared to the conventional liquid liners in the market.
Price: P599 | L'Oreal Paris Philippines
Where to buy: Department Store beauty sections, Watsons
To tell you the truth, I've given up on wearing mascaras since nothing works really well with my short, thin, stick-straight lashes. However, some time last year, I got introduced to this particular mascara which changed things for my pitiable lashes. So far, it's the only mascara that works perfectly for my super East Asian lashes.
Just a disclaimer though, it doesn't really volumize my lashes that much, but I'm after the lengthening and holding-the-curl aspects anyway. And it gets the job done.
So here are the 5 beauty products I use time and time again. Honorable mentions are: NYX Cream Blush in Rose Petal, L'Oreal Super Liner Blackbuster, L.A. Girl Silky Smooth Pressed Powder, and Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse.
Although I've tried a couple of products from different brands, I'm sure there are a lot of amazing cosmetics out there that I haven't even checked out yet. Or have not given much chance to wow me. So if you have your own list of your favorite beauty products, let me know and maybe I can find a new holy grail from you. v(*’-^*)-☆
